Our vessels are made from a formula that we developed ourselves. Its base is derived from red algae, but also uses other natural ingredients in order to become a bioplastic. They use 100% natural soy wax, eco-friendly wicks secured with clay, and non-toxic, phthalate-free fragrance oils.

Our candles are eco-friendly because we use sustainable materials, such as natural soy wax, and eco-friendly packaging. We also prioritize sourcing ingredients from suppliers with ethical practices.

Before lighting your candle for the first time, ensure the wick is trimmed to 1/4". The initial burn should last between 1 and 3 hours. Allowing the candle to develop a nearly full melt pool by the 3-hour mark will promote a more even and efficient burn. Always keep the candle clean by promptly removing any debris with a wick dipper or tweezers. Be sure to trim the wick to 1/4" before each subsequent burn.

Since our candles are made from algae and decompose naturally, you can dispose of them in any way you choose. For the most environmentally friendly options, we recommend composting or simply placing them in the trash. If you choose to recycle, ensure that all wax is thoroughly removed from the vessel before placing it in the recycling bin.

Our 4 oz candle has a burn time of about 24 hours, and our 12.5 oz candle has a burn time of about 43 hours.

We've conducted extensive tests and are continuing to perform long-term assessments to accurately determine the shelf life of our algae-based candle vessels. Our current findings predict a shelf life of 10-12 months, which is comparable to most bioplastic products. To ensure longevity, our formula includes natural ingredients that inhibit bacterial growth, helping to maintain the integrity of the vessels over time. We are committed to providing a high-quality, sustainable product and will continue to refine our process based on ongoing research and feedback.

You can confidently use our algae-based vessels in your home without concern. While many candles utilize flammable materials, such as wooden containers, our vessels are specifically designed and rigorously tested to withstand the heat of the wax. By adhering to standard candle safety guidelines—applicable to all candles—you can enjoy our products safely. In the unlikely event that the flame makes direct contact with the container, it may char or undergo slight changes in form.

If your candle arrives damaged, please contact support@marinacandle.com with a photo of the damage. We will replace it at no additional cost to you.

All our candles are handmade and poured in Brooklyn, New York.

All of our paper packaging is printed at home using recycled paper and water-based inks. All packaging is recyclable.

Currently, we are focusing on shipping within the United States. However, we are exploring options for international shipping in the future.
